From the South

Brothers,

What a wonderful month April has been. We had the privilege on April 3 to present the First Degree to a new brother.

April 20 was our opportunity to thank the ladies of the Lodge for their support over the years. We were particularly pleased that Donna, Carol and Peggy were in attendance so that we could express our appreciation for all of the wonderful meals they have prepared for us over the years. (I suppose that I should also recognize the assistance they had gotten from WB Jim Glasscock and Brother John Peck.) The meal enhances the fellowship that we all share prior to the meeting.

I want to express my thanks to John DeWeoff (of the Shrine Club), Brother Glen Campbell and WB Keith Chandler for the work they did on getting the Swamp Cooler removed from the roof and a new unit placed. I believe we will find the meeting much more pleasant with this new unit moving some of the air around. (I do not believe I will go any further even though volumes could be written.)

April 24th saw ten brothers gather at the Shrine Club for a visitation. We had nine members of out lodge as well as a visiting brother from Washington State. The horses were harnessed to the Church Bus and with WB Jim Glasscock at the helm; we made a safe and joyous trip to Buena Vista, Colorado. The purpose of the trip was twofold, one to visit Mount Princeton Lodge #49, and two to claim the "Traveling Gavel." Both purposes were fulfilled. The visiting brothers found a very warm reception and shared a fellowship that I believe can only be found with consistency in Freemasonry.

Mount Princeton #49 is 127 years young. They have a beautiful Lodge Hall and we were privileged to see some of the Lodge Minutes dating back to the 1800's. As we looked over these pages we were struck by the fact that little has changed, and yet much has changed.

We thank W.M. Randall Loback and his lodge for the warm reception and hospitality shown to us during the visit.

As a final note, I will mention that the Taper Club continues to meet on the last Saturday of the Month. We had a good fellowship this month and look forward to your visiting our group.

Fraternally,

James Robison, Junior Warden
