From the South

Brothers,

In April a hearty group of adventures headed south in search of the Masonic Symbol the Traveling Gavel. Along the way we dealt with the fierce fog along Monument Hill but the trip was well worth it when we arrived to find that the six weary souls who had made the long trek to Centurion Daylight Lodge outnumbered the Brothers from El Paso Lodge by 1 so we got to take the prize with us. Fellowship was enjoyed by all the Brothers present and I found some new ideas that we will consider for our lodge’s meetings in the future that everyone should enjoy.

The next step of our adventure was at our first stated communication in May when 3 Lodges came to our meeting to once again retrieve the gavel from us after having it for just a moment in time. This seems to be a trend, we travel to get it and others come from other parts of Denver and take it from us!

Paul Revere, Westin and the aforementioned El Paso Lodge all attended our meeting swelling the ranks that night to the largest meeting I have ever had the privilege to attend. Westin once again took the Gavel from us with a resounding victory with the most members present.

Many thanks to WB Jim Glasscock, WB Wayne Pennel, Brothers John Peck, Peter DeLaurier and Tom Brown for going with me to get the gavel from Monument. Many thanks to the Brothers of Centurion Daylight Lodge for the Fellowship they provided us when we came to meet them, and also many thanks to the Metro Area Brothers who came to our Lodge to retrieve the Gavel from us.

This is a wonderful program and I look forward to finding the gavel again in the fall and getting it back! I look forward to you making the trip with us!

Fraternally,

Kevin Best, Junior Warden
