Brothers this month’s message is simple: Enjoy Your Summer.

During the months of June and July we have a few events planned to keep us busy as a Lodge.

On June 19th we will have our 2nd Annual Picnic at Progress Park which is located at 5100 S. Hickory St., Littleton, Colorado. Please plan to bring a dish or dessert to share. We will be there from 10-3. Please RSVP to me if you plan to attend at kmbest@bestenterprises.org so we can plan on the food and drinks needed.

On July 3rd we will be attending a Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants game at Coors Field. The tickets are $20 and can be purchased from Brother
Rich Silver
, our Junior Deacon who graciously funded this event. Thank you brother for this. Please contact Brother Rich at his email of rsilver20@mac.com.

We will be conducting a business meeting on June 3rd where we will be reviewing the Grand Lodge budget for 2011 as well as moving on suspending Brothers who have not paid there dues. If you have not done so, please contact the Secretary so that we do not have to vote on you.

We also have a Masters Degree planned for June and look forward to your attendance.

Have an enjoyable summer and I look forward to seeing you in Lodge.

Fraternally, Kevin Best
Worshipful Master

From the West
A tired salutation from the West!

Well, May and June have been busy months for us. We had three passed in the Fellow Craft degree, two the Master Mason, one for a Entered Apprentice, five proficiencies, a Masonic education time and lots of great fellowship. Speaking of fellowship – how do you define it?

We all know that Masons call each other brother; it is a term of endearment, which does not depend on rank, status or learning. Some Masonic historians write of it as: "a common participation of human nature; professing the same faith; having gone through the same obligations; engaged in the same labors; and united by a mutual covenant." But does that actually explain why we call each other "Brother"?

Maybe not. One may have hit the term on the head when writing calls us "Brothers of the Mystic Tie." What binds us together? All that was mentioned above and what is taught us in our lectures, obligations and ritual. Brotherly love is talked about in our oldest manuscript, the Ancient Charges as the "foundation, capstone, cement and story of our ancient fraternity." It binds an odd lot of men together, shows depth of interest in each of their lives and situations and is found in the five points of fellowship, where we see that the two who embrace are: equal, open, defenseless and close.

We have great fellowship at Englewood 166. You can see it in our dinner times, during the lodge meetings and when two members meet on the street outside of our tiled get-togethers. We may differ in many ways, thoughts on how the lodge should be run, but the fraternity and what it represents unites. Let brotherly love and friendship continue!

From the South
Darkness is upon us and it is time for the Lodge to take a break. As we look back we can see a great start to this year. We Initiated 4 Entered Apprentices, Passed 4 Fellow Crafts and Raised 3 Master Masons. The summer is ahead of us! Take this time and enjoy your family and friends. Some of you may be planning vacations, be safe and have fun. Some may be just staying home. What ever you are doing over the next couple of months ENJOY yourselves. Take this time to reflect and ask yourself this. What does Masonry mean to me? The answer is different for each of us. Right now in my life Masonry means Family. When I fall, you pick me up. When I laugh, you laugh with me. When I succeed, your there to congratulate me and when I'm hurting Masonry is there to minimize the pain. Thank you! My life is better today because of the men in this great fraternity. I am honored to call each of you Brother!

Remember times are not always easy. But it is how we handle them as Masons that make them easier to deal with. What defines us as Men and Masons are our every day actions.

Please keep in mind our upcoming picnic on June 19th. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a wonderful day with your Brethren and their families.

From the Secretary's Desk
Summer is finally here; spring flew by. Flowers are planted and started mowing the lawn, which helps work off some of our great meals the ladies have prepared over the year. Thank you
Carol
,
Peggy Jo
and
Donna
!

In accordance with the Lodge By-Laws and the book of Constitutions; at the June 3rd meeting I will be reading a list of Brothers who will be suspended for non-payment of dues for two years. The Brethren in attendance at this Communication are required to take action, which may result in suspension of these Brothers.

I would remind all of you if you are suspended from a Lodge you cannot attend or belong to any other Masonic order.

Have a Great Summer!

Fraternally, Jim Glasscock, PM
Secretary
