Trestle Board - March

From the East
I would like to start this article by thanking our Junior and Senior Wardens for writing some very thought provoking articles for this trestle board. This allows me to focus on fun stuff.

It is an exciting time for our Lodge. On February 18th we brought a new Brother to light and I would like to take a moment to welcome Brother Jared Reynolds.

On March 4th we will be passing two Brothers to the Degree of a Fellowcraft and on April 3rd we will be raising even more. It has been a few years since we have had the growth that we are currently experiencing and I would like to thank all the Brothers who have been instrumental in bringing these Brothers along on their Masonic journey whether it be signing their petition, doing the investigation or participating in the degree's.

I would like to also take a moment and provide you some dates for some upcoming events that I would like to see you attend.

On April 1st (no joke) we will be receiving the Grand Masters and his officers with a pot luck dinner. Last years event was very successful and I am looking forward to the same for this year. We will be delivering twenty-five, fifty and sixty year awards at this meeting and I am very excited to meet these well deserving Brothers.

On March 27th we will be having our first movie night of the year. This is always a well attended and fun evening.

On June 19th we will be having our second Annual Lodge Picnic at Progress Park. This facility has a baseball field (I heard a Demolay Group may challenge us to a game) as well as a fishing pier for the kids.

Brothers in closing I would like to beg you to do something for our Lodge. If you missed any of the dates above I implore you to please contact our Secretary and ask him to update his records with your email address. We currently have 60 emails for over 300 active members of our lodge. Since the Trestle Board is only sent once a month, I would like to be able to provide you more timely information by sending you a short email every know and again to provide you an update on special events that are may come up from time to time.

Fraternally, Kevin Best
Worshipful Master

From the West
Wisdom, strength and beauty. We tend to put them together and slur them like one word or one idea or thought, but each of the three are multilayered symbols. In the rituals, we see them as columns, each not only associated with a chair or position for a lodge officer, but as a pillar that supports what the lodge does and represents.
Wisdom = Ionic/ W. M.
Strength = Doric/ S. W.
Beauty = Corinthian/ J. W.
In a world where we see so much negative, destructive and ugly; these three ladies of Masonry remind us to look to the good, positive and uplifting. Not only do we need this in our lives, it makes the lodge room and the world much better places. Think on these things and apply them in your life as you see fit. Do your thoughts made you strong? Do they give you knowledge and wisdom? Do you see the beauty in all of nature and the creative abilities of man?

This triad is another form of working tools, not for the physical, but with our thoughts. And they should be given prominent positions in Freemasonry. Each can give you aspects of life that transcend the everyday. All three used together will give you a balance in your life. Having any one of the triad overpower the rest will give a lopsided life. DonŐt let the negative rob you while on the journey for truth in your life.

From the South
I hope this communication finds each of you well. I would like to thank the Jobs Daughters of Bethel 40 Messenger Team for their beautiful performance during our first stated communication in February. With the many roads to travel within Masonry I can honestly say that my travels with these Daughters is truly rewarding.

Brethren April 1st is our Grand Master's visit. That's right I said April 1st and this is not an April fool's gag. With all of the trails and tribulation we as Brethren of Englewood #166 have had to endure over the course of the building project. We demonstrate the strength of our lodge through Brethren who continue to come out and meet on the level and part upon the square and share in good Masonic Brotherly Love. I would like for our M.W.Bro. Charles G. Johnson, G.M. to bare witness that a Masonic lodge is not defined by its surrounding structure but by the Brethren within. So I am calling out to each any every Brother of Englewood #166 to attend the April 1st communication if available and support our WM Kevin Best and our Grand Master. If you are in need of transportation please contact any one of the 2010 Officers to arrange a pick up.
Brother, I, too own a television set, but that does not keep me home on Lodge night.
I have never yet had one of the characters on television come off the screen and shake
my hand. They have never offered me the warm friendship that my Lodge Brothers do.
They have never handed me a cup of coffee or a doughnut. NO! NEVER!

From the Secretary's Desk
Brothers, Brother Marion L. Carter's daughter called and informed me that he passed away on December 31, 2009.

Peter mentioned in his article that the Grand Master Charles Johnson will be visiting us on April 1. The meeting will be open, and our ladies can be present for all of the festivities. Worshipful Master Best has decided that we do "Pot-Luck" again this year. If everybody brings a POT and with a lot of Luck there will plenty of food. We have six members who have achieved a great milestone in their Masonic life of "Sixty" years as a Mason. There also are six brothers who have been a Mason for "Fifty" years. Then two newer members who are twenty-five years a Mason. CONGRATLUATIONS BROTHERS. It is the pleasure of the Grand Master to present these awards at his visit with the members and their ladies.

Great things are happening at Englewood we are receiving petitions!!! March 4th we will present the 2nd degree and then if goes well we will do the 3rd degree on Saturday April 3rd starting at 8am. At the meeting on February 18th we did a 1st degree on Jerod Reynolds, WB Leonard Albertson's grandson, always great to start a close relative in the Masonic fraternity.
